GM China remains No.1 in Q1 among global automaker


Shanghai, China - General Motors Corp. remained the largest global automaker in China in the first quarter of 2008, as GM and its domestic joint ventures sold 311,512 vehicles. This was a record for any quarter for GM in China.

GM benefited from record quarterly sales of Chevrolet, one of its mainstream brands in China, which jumped 36.3 percent on an annual basis to 56,083 units due to strong demand for the Lova compact sedan and Epica intermediate sedan. GM also enjoyed record sales for the Cadillac CTS luxury sedan, while the Wuling Sunshine minivan remained GM’s best-selling product in China, with demand topping 125,000 units.
