New Delhi: The effervescent Chevrolet Spark has proven to be a favourite with the Indian car buyers in April 2008, logging a commendable sales growth of 66 per cent over the corresponding period last year. At a time when the car market has turned sluggish due to high lending rates, volatility in the stock market and rising inflation rate, General Motors India has registered a sales growth of 24.3 percent in April 2008, compared to the corresponding period last year.
It sold 5,563 units in April 2008 against 4,474 units during the same time last year. Sales of the Chevrolet Tavera grew by 12 percent and the Optra by 24 percent over the corresponding period last year. General Motors India’s April 2008 sales comprise of 1,963 units of the Chevrolet Spark, 1,863 units of the Chevrolet Tavera, 1,055 units of the Chevrolet Aveo, 393 units of the Chevrolet Optra, and 289 units of the Chevrolet Captiva.
