TORONTO - Garden Motorcar Mercedes-Benz is building a stunning new facility on the North Service Road in Burlington. CEO of Garden Motorcar Mercedes-Benz Ken Szekely and President, Steven Lewis hosted the ground breaking ceremony which took place yesterday on the new grounds. They were joined by the Mayor of Burlington Cam Jackson, Rick Craven Ward 1 Councilor, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada Marcus Breitschwerdt and Rudolf Meyer, Mercedes-Benz Market Manager responsible for Canada.
The facility is scheduled to open its doors in the spring of 2009.
The current dealership located at 181 Plains Road West in Burlington has been Mercedes-Benz' well established home for more than two and half decades. Despite several major renovations and expansions over the years, the Plains Road location has simply become a victim of its own success and growth and is no longer as conveniently situated as it once was when Plains Road was a main thoroughfare.
The new 65,000 square foot building will be erected on 6 acres of an easily accessible North Service Road, adjacent to the very busy Queen Elizabeth Highway.
The construction of the new dealership is a green initiative that will incorporate over sixteen major energy saving features. An exterior reflecting pond will surround the floor-to-ceiling curved glass-building structure and will aesthetically complement the large outdoor car display.
The dealership showroom will easily accommodate up to 45 new vehicles and will also include a large pre-owned showroom of 25 vehicles.
The building was designed to ensure the ultimate Mercedes-Benz customer experience. The 6000 square foot drive-in climate-controlled reception area can accommodate 12 vehicles at any given time. An impressive 20-foot atrium will tower over an expansive staircase. The customer café and lounge will have wireless internet. The dealership will also feature, indoor parking, radiant floor heating, a women's spa and a men's simulated golf range. The service department will offer 17 vehicle bays and a large boutique area for Mercedes-Benz accessories and "The Collection" giftware and apparel.
This new dealership will meet all of the global "Autohaus" facility design standards and guidelines set by Mercedes-Benz.
President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada, Marcus Breitschwerdt said, "We are very proud to say that Garden Motorcar Mercedes-Benz' imminent new facility is yet another strong initiative that clearly shows that our customers' satisfaction is absolutely top of mind. This forward-thinking building was designed to provide our customers with exceptional brand, Mercedes-Benz Canada Incpurchase and service experiences."
