Mercedes-Benz proved its calibre in the world of sport when one of England’s most talented rugby players picked up an award from the Professional Rugby Players’ Association (PRA).
The awards, which were sponsored by Mercedes-Benz, saw Danny Cipriani - whose superb season was blighted by an ankle injury last weekend - named young player of the year.
"To have been voted the PRA Mercedes-Benz young player of the year by my fellow players is a huge honour and it means a lot to me," said Cipriani.
Cipriani, who was expected to play for England at fly-half on the June tour to New Zealand, could not attend the event because of the injury which will keep him out for six months.
But he expressed his pleasure at winning such a prestigious crown.
"I am privileged to have been nominated for both players’ awards," he said.
Mercedes-Benz is associated with the PRA and sponsors the young player of the year award and the brand is also sponsoring the PRA’s celebrity golf classic which takes place in La Manga in June.
