Tata Motors to say bye to Singur

At the same time, it is scrambling to launch its ultra cheap car as planned earlier.

Tata Motors has suspended work at their plant in Singur due to violent protests by farmers who were unhappy with the compensation that was offered for their lands.

Earlier, it was reported that the company would make a public announcement about its exit from West Bengal, but a Tata Spokesman declined to comment on the issue.

About the issue concerning alternative land for the Nano project, the company is looking at an offer made by the Karnataka government.

According to analysts, it may also be able to roll out a few hundred or a few thousand Nano cars from its plant in Pantnagar in Uttarkhand, or from Pune.
