Bajaj Auto announced that it plans to launch six new models in India in 2009. It will undertake serious product initiatives to boost the sales and will launch one new model every month for the next six months beginning January 2009. Bajaj Auto’s sales fell by 37 per cent in November 2008 at 131,681 units compared with 209,876 units in November 2007. The company does not foresee any boost in sales in December 2008 either as the dealers have refused to pickup any more deliveries due to inventory pile up.
The Indian customers can expect all new face-lifted Pulsar 220cc, new Pulsar 200 FI, XCD sprint and Blade scooter. The company also aims to launch its new low cost product which might be christened as Steel. There is one more unnamed product in the product portfolio that will be launched next year.
The company is also offering cheaper financing from Bajaj Auto Finance Limited. The company will finance all the vehicles purchased from the Bajaj dealer and will offer cheaper loan options to its customers. The company is one amongst the other auto makers in India that are reeling under the pressure of ongoing credit crunch in the market.
