By having association with Volvo Ocean Race Kochi, Volvo Car India introduced 25 special edition SUV's and their plan to sell them got stopover.
The company has planned to bring 25 limited edition cars to India, said Paul de Voijs, the Managing Director of Volvo Car India at Volvo Ocean Race village.
Since India is a vital marketplace for their company, the company targets to well establish their brand in India, said Voijs. The company is intended to improve their brand which was introduced a year ago in India, he added.
The company has sold around 100 cars in the period from January 2008 to December 2008.
As an outcome of the nine-month extended Volvo Ocean Race, a count of 10000 special edition cars are anticipated to be sold in all over the world. The limited editions are expected to be released at various stopovers.
Even though there is recession, the luxury division experienced less reflection due to the retardation in the sales in India. Currently, there is no idea for opening any plant in India and also the cars are imported as a whole.
Presently, with the assistance of four dealerships located at Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh and Hyderabad, the company is marketing its products in India. Further, Volvo has planned to have six additional dealerships in India in 2009 comprising one at Kochi, said Voijs.
In Blue Pearl and Electric Silver metallic colors, the Volvo XC90 Ocean Race Edition is striking the market. An elite Ocean Race emblem is outfitted on the roof banisters and on the side shield. The price of five-seater SUV is Rs.50 lakh and the price of seven-seater is Rs.51.5 lakh.
